The Alarming Truth: Climate Change

Right now the world sits at 1.15°C.

Preventing warming +1.5°C requires drastic change within the next few years.  

In order to mitigate the consequences of +2 degrees of warming, limiting our temperature rise to 1.5 ̊C is imperative. This is achievable, but prompt action is necessary.

 

What does 1.5°C look like? 

9 out of 10 coral reefs are at risk from severe degradation.

What does 2.0°C look like? 

All coral reefs disappear.

Beyond 3.0°C? 

Marine ecosystems may collapse and half of all plant and animal species face local extinction.



WHAT YOU CAN DO RIGHT NOW TO HELP?

  1. Spread the word.

  2. Rein in power use.

  3. Ride your bike to work one day a week.

  4. Plant just one tree.

  5. Shop local and buy sustainable.

 

Without intervention, we are projected to see a temperature increase of 4-6 ̊C. To put this in perspective, this is similar to the temperature difference between the present and the last ice age, which was approximately 4 ̊C.

These are truely some hard facts to grasp, but if we can work together to help take action now, we can still keep our planet at a stable trajectory.
